Now even that said, really, the best solution is to go buy an electric guitar and amp and learn how to play and record it, or like what Warbalist said, collab with a guitarist. I really wish someone would make a really good and tweakable unplugged electric guitar VST to use with digital amp effects. Some people would say guitar tone is an art in itself. Hell to the nah The Best: For Metal, Grunge, & Hard Rock Shreddage Heavyweight Title: Distortion King For Rock, Alternative, Country, & Folk FL Slayer HW Title: Unplugged King For Alternative & Soft Rock Ample Guitar & IronAxe HW Title: Strumming Master For Acoustic Riffs & Songs Revitar HW Title: Acoustic Boss Just about everything else Ive used is mediocre. You will even need to study how an actual electric guitar and amp works, and some of the tricks guitarist use to get certain sounds, because digital amplifier effects like Guitar Rig 5 will resemble actual guitar amps in functionality. Also, if you want to learn how to create electric guitar sounds from the ground up, prepare to spend A LOT of time practicing it and getting it right. Now that said, a pre-recorded electric guitar VST is a valid quick fix. Pre-recorded electric guitars rob you of that versatility, and versatility is what electric guitars are all about. The main reason why I prefer not to use sampled or pre-amplified electric guitar VST's is because I prefer to tweak the sound myself so I can get a particular sound. SO it's not the ultimate solution but it gets the job done. I use Fl Slayer 2 for unplugged guitar sound, and run that threw NI Guitar Rig 5, and then I never looked back XD! Sometimes I'll layer Slayer 2 with a synth in Massive so that the signal that goes threw Guitar Rig will have more body.
